It’s unsafe to reopen varsities amidst Covid-19 second wave – ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said it has assessed COVID-19 protocols in the universities and it’s unsafe to reopen universities as the government has not put measures in place to that effect.

This was said on Sunday, January 10, in reaction to the directive of the National Universities Commission that universities could resume on January 18.

According to ASUU, although its members were ready to start work, the government had not put measures in place for the safe reopening of the schools.

ASUU went on strike for nine months before an agreement was reached with Government some days ago after weeks of negotiations between both parties.
