How to transfer contacts from an Android phone to an iPhone in 4 different ways
You can transfer contacts from an Android phone to an iPhone in several ways, all of which are free. To transfer contacts from an Android to a new iPhone, you can use the Move to iOS app.
You can also use your Google account, send a VCF file to yourself, or save the contacts to your SIM card.
Making the transition from an Android phone to an iPhone can be challenging unlike upgrading from one Android device to another (or an iPhone to another iPhone), there’s no single, seamless, one-click transfer process.
But it’s not especially difficult, either. There are a handful of ways to transfer contacts from an Android device to an iPhone , depending upon whether you want to set up a new iPhone or move just a few contacts to an existing iPhone.
Here are four ways to move your contacts from an Android phone to an iPhone.
How to transfer contacts from Android to a new iPhone with the Move to iOS app
Apple has created the Move to iOS app to help you transfer your phone data from Android to a new iPhone . The process will copy all your data, including contacts, calendars, photos, and email accounts.
1. Install the Move to iOS app on your Android device.
2. Follow the setup process on your new iPhone until you reach the “Apps & Data” screen.
3. Choose “Move Data from Android.”
4. Start the Move to iOS app on your Android .
5. Tap Continue on both devices and agree to the terms and conditions in Move to iOS, then tap Next.
6. In the Move to iOS app, enter the code that’s displayed on the iPhone .
7. Follow the instructions to complete the transfer.
How to transfer contacts from Android to iPhone by syncing a Google account
This is a great option if you keep your Android contacts in a Google account. It works with both a new iPhone and one that’s already set up. All you need to do is to add your Android’s Google account information to the iPhone.
1. On the iPhone, start the Settings app.
2. Tap “Passwords & Accounts.”
3. Tap “Add Account” and then tap “Google.”
4. Follow the instructions to add your Google account to the iPhone. It’ll automatically sync all your Google info, including contacts.
How to transfer contacts from Android to iPhone using a VCF file
This is a great option if some of your contacts aren’t in a Google account so you can’t just sync accounts, or if you just want to transfer only a few contacts.
1. On your Android phone, open the Contacts app.
2. Tap the three dots at the top right of the screen to open the menu, and then tap “Share.”
4. Choose the contacts you want to transfer. You can tap “All” or choose contacts one at a time.
5. When you’re done, tap “Share.”
6. If you only selected one contact, you’ll need to select “VCF file.” If you selected multiple contacts, VCF is your only choice.
7. Choose how you want to get the VCF file to your iPhone . The easiest option is probably email or text message. Send the file.
8. On the iPhone, open the VCF file and choose to add the contacts to your iPhone.
How to transfer contacts from Android to iPhone with a SIM card
You may be able to use your Android’s SIM card as a transfer device to copy contacts as well. This is perhaps the least convenient solution, though, because it requires you to physically swap SIM cards around between the phones.
1. On your Android phone, open the Contacts app.
2. Tap the three horizontal lines (the hamburger menu).
3. Tap “Manage contacts.”
4. On the Manage contacts page, tap “Import/export contacts.”
5. Tap “Export.”
6. Choose where the contacts will be exported to tap “SIM card.”
7. Choose which contacts you want to export. Tap “All” or tap contacts one at a time, and then tap “Done.”
8. Tap “Export.” You might need to confirm this selection.
9. Remove the SIM card from the Android phone and insert it in the iPhone .
10. On the iPhone , start the Settings app.
11. Tap “Contacts.”
12. Tap “Import SIM Contacts.”
14. Choose the account on which you want to store the contacts.

How to change your default Google account in any browser, using a PC or Mac computer
You can change your default Google account by signing out of all your Google accounts, and then signing back into the one you want as your default.
The first Google account you sign back into will be set as your default until you log out of them all again. Your default Google account is the one that Google Drive, YouTube, and other platforms will usually sign you into when you visit.
A new job, a new life direction, a new priority circumstances change, and sometimes that means a new Gmail account needs to become your top priority.
That’s when it’s time to change your default Google account, and therefore prioritize a certain one over any others you have. That way, you’ll see those emails first, but you’ll be able to switch over to your other linked accounts whenever you want.
Luckily, it’s easy to set a new default Google account on your Mac or PC. It should only take a few minutes to accomplish. Here’s how to do it.
How to change your default Google account
1. Go to mail.google.com on your PC or Mac computer, make sure you’re logged in, and click on your profile picture icon located in the top right corner of the screen.
2. Sign out of it, as well as any other Gmail accounts you’re signed into.
3. Sign back into the account you want to be your new default, then sign back into another one of your accounts.
Sign back into your chosen default account first, then sign into your other accounts.
4. To verify that your intended account is now set as the default, click on your profile picture located in the top right corner. It should list an email address and below that in parenthesis it should say “default.”
Signing back in this way will get the job done. You can subsequently sign back into all of your other Google accounts without messing up your new setup.
Remember: Your default account is different from device to device, and the method described above will only apply to the device you complete the steps on.
So if you want to update the default for all of your devices, you’ll have to do it individually on each device.

7 ways to fix your iPhone when it has no service
When your iPhone has no service, there are several ways you can try to fix it. The quickest fixes include restarting your iPhone , turning Airplane Mode on and off, and checking your coverage area.
When you’re in a remote area, it makes sense that your iPhone’s service would be a little unreliable.
However, if you’re in a densely populated area or a big metropolis, seeing the dreaded “No Service” notification on the top of your iPhone’s screen can be perplexing at best and downright frustrating at worst.
If you find yourself with no service on your iPhone and are unsure how to fix it, there are a few things you can try all on your own before having to head to your nearest Genius Bar for help from Apple themselves.
Here are a few things you can try.
Check your coverage area
First and foremost, you need to make sure that you’re in an area where your iPhone’s service provider has cell towers to provide you coverage. If you’re certain that you are, you can try toggling your data on and off by following these steps:
1. On your iPhone’s home screen, tap the Settings app.
2. Locate and tap Mobile Data and toggle it on and off by tapping the green lever bar. When the bar is green, mobile data is enabled; when it’s gray, it’s not. Sometimes turning this option on and off could be enough to help your iPhone find service.
Note that if you’re traveling internationally, you’ll need to enable international roaming by tapping Mobile Data Options in the Mobile Data section, and ensure that it reads Roaming On.
Check that your carrier settings are up to date
Carrier settings contain important data about your selected network that allow you to make calls, check voicemails, and use data. Ensuring that these settings are up to date is important, especially if you’re struggling with no service.
1. Connect to a cell phone or WiFi network of your choice.
2. To check that your carrier settings are up to date, tap the Settings menu on your iPhone’s home screen.
3. In the Settings menu, tap General and then About. Should an update be available, you’ll be able to do so from this screen. Note that iPhones generally prompt you when new carrier settings become available, but it never hurts to check manually just to be sure.
Restart your iPhone
Sometimes simply restarting your iPhone is enough to restore service. The reasoning behind this isn’t totally understood, but hey, that’s technology. We don’t necessarily need to know how it works, only that it does!
If you’re unsure how to restart your iPhone, methods for each model can be found in our article, ” How to restart and force-restart any iPhone model .”
Turn Airplane Mode on and off
Toggle your iPhone’s Airplane Mode on and off by swiping up from your home screen to reveal the Control Center and tapping on the Airplane Mode icon, which is represented by a plane inside a circle.
When the icon is yellow, Airplane Mode is enabled; when it’s grayed out, it’s disabled.
Take the SIM card out and put it back in
Pretty self-explanatoryby removing the SIM card and then putting it back in, your phone may be able to reconnect with your service provider to restore service on your phone so that you can make calls and use data again (as well as anything else you use your phone’s mobile network for).
Removing the SIM card momentarily also gives you a chance to see if there’s any damage. If there is, you should contact your carrier for a new one. You should also ensure that the inserted SIM card works with your iPhone , especially if you transferred it from another device.
For more information, here’s how to remove the SIM card on your iPhone .
Update your iPhones iOS
Ensure your iPhone’s iOS is up to date. You can check which version you’re currently running by tapping the Settings app on your iPhone , then clicking on General and Software Update.
Should a new version be available, you’ll see a notification in the form of a number within a red circle.
Contact your carrier network or Apple Support
Contact your carrier to ensure that the network isn’t experiencing outages, that your account is in good standing and your service operational, and that your iPhone isn’t blocked from sending or receiving data.
If none of these methods work, reach out to Apple Support for further help.
